AutoZone Retail App – Vehicle Card Redesign
Role
Manager, User Experience and Design
Scope
Concept → Build Validation
Platform
iOS + Android (retail app)
Challenge
Adding and managing a vehicle is a core action in the AutoZone retail mobile app — it drives parts compatibility, shopping relevance, and overall utility for the user. However, the Add Vehicle entry point was inconsistent and hard to find across the app’s key tabs, creating friction at a critical moment in the user journey. Whether a user was on the Home, Shop, or Vehicle tab, the path to adding or managing their vehicle wasn’t clear, leading to missed connections between users and the features built around their vehicle profile.
Process
01
Audit & Mapping
Reviewed the existing experience across all three primary tabs — Home, Shop, and Vehicle — to identify where the Add Vehicle entry point was absent, buried, or inconsistent.
02
Flow Design
Designed updated flows for each tab context, including a bottom sheet pattern for the Shop tab and both signed-in and signed-out states for the Vehicle tab, ensuring the experience was coherent regardless of where a user entered.
03
Specs & Handoff
Delivered a fully documented, dev-approved spec with component updates and interaction states, ready for engineering implementation.
Outcome
The update brought consistency and visibility to a critical user action across the app. By surfacing the Add Vehicle entry point at the right moments across the Home, Shop, and Vehicle tabs, users gained a clearer, more intuitive path to connecting their vehicle — improving the overall utility and relevance of the retail app experience.
